"Delaware Right to Marry Political Action Committee" was established in November 2010 to represent an emerging grassroots constituency -- particularly Millennial and Gen X voters -- who believed Delaware should legalize full civil marriage equality for same-gender couples. The PAC depends on the activism of countless students and community volunteers. Delaware Right to Marry is a registered PAC in the state of Delaware and is not affiliated with any political party. Our headquarters are in Newark, DE. Our major activities to date include collecting signatures of more than ten thousand supporters (over 1% of Delaware's population) on a petition to the state legislature, as well as raising money and knocking on hundreds of doors for state House and Senate candidates in the November 2012 elections (a majority of whom won!). Delaware is not a referendum state, but we are mobilizing a grassroots network to provide support across the state for legislators who will vote for marriage equality. You can read our January 2013 update for an update on our plans for the new year.
Senior Staff:
Bill Humphrey, Statewide Director (on leave)
As of January 2013, Bill is currently on leave to work on marriage equality as part of coalition efforts with Equality Delaware. Originally from Massachusetts, he graduated with honors from the University of Delaware's political science and political communication programs. While there he served as the presidents of the Delaware Federation of College Democrats and the UD Democrats. Before working full time at the PAC, Bill worked on several Democratic campaigns and as a political communications contractor for progressive Democrats in the northeast.
Alexandra "Sasha" Nader, Treasurer (Acting Director)
Sasha is originally from Maryland and is coming on board as Treasurer of the PAC, to replace Hannah, our treasurer for the past two years. She will also serve as acting director while Bill is on leave during the organization's restructuring period. Sasha, a political communication specialist, has been a volunteer for the PAC for some time now, assisting with political graphic design and collecting petition signatures at the Delaware State Fair. In the past, she served on the board of the University of Delaware College Democrats.
